You might save the cost of cleaning by doing it yourself. A word of caution; use water to hose waste solids whenever possible to avoid breaking the feces into inhale-able dust. Cleaning fecal solids requires the use of a double canister mask or supplied air. Pigeon Lung Disease, Legionnaires Disease or Histoplasmosis, has killed many people as documented by the national Center for Disease Control. If you have large concentrations of waste that smell, you can splash a bleach dilution.

The biggest area of concern is waste that contacts the dirt, and any area on your roof where the waste exceeds four inches in depth. Pigeons are homing and will not leave the site as a result of cleaning. They will identify visual waste markings as safe-for-pigeon areas. Cleaning bids can range from only nest removal or a light hose and brush, to a complete power wash.

We bag as much waste as possible before power-washing to avoid “mud” runoff. Technicians are instructed to bag ground level waste to the point there is more ground cover than waste. You should move all personal items from around the areas being cleaned. Fecal-tea and uric acid are corrosive. Fecal solids will also create a pool of water that submerges and corrodes the paper underlayment underneath your tiles. We may expose leaks that have been ready to happen but we do not create new ones.

The Pigeon Guy accepts no responsibility for pre--existing roofing problems. When large concentrations of solids have been pressed underneath your tiles for a long time, cleaning may leave a shear cliff of waste deep under tile. When we are done, you may identify waste from under tiles coming down in the form of small “frass”. We do not return to clean residual “frass”.

We have spent excessive amounts of time and money trying to get pigeons out from deep nesting areas. We will not take your roof apart to get these birds. If you see a bird behind our mesh, the pigeon probably was invisible or unreachable when mesh was installed. We would be happy to hear your ideas for retrieval but chances are we’ve probably already tried it.

We do not wash windows yet, so please be informed, power-washed windows may leave water spots. It is very important that you close your windows the day of the job. We will try to control fecal overspray from reaching your pool. However, we do not accept responsibility for pool cleaning. Please turn off pool filters to avoid pump burnout.

We are licensed and insured through 2 state licensing agencies for your protection. Unlicensed contractors are not required to carry workers' comp or liability insurance. If they are injured on the job, your homeowner’s insurance would be liable for their hospital bills and your roof damage.

Nests start out as twigs and the babies, packed with food, deposit their food on top of the twigs. That’s right, they live on top of their own feces and urine.

are left for water to runoff.

People tell me all the time pigeons do not nest in the open roof. Out of five nesting spots, 3 have offspring growing.
